It has been a busy last few weeks/months to say the least. Keeping up with the blog has been a challenge. It has been my go to for storing memories in a solid place. It has almost been the “baby book” as you might say for both of my girls. That said, my youngest daughter’s 11 month update comes several days late (her actual 11 month birthday was February 18th) and includes a collaboration of the past two months.
It was during the past two months that Morgan’s personality really started to shine. She once seemed like the happy, well-mannered baby who could be passed off to anyone only to oblige with the biggest grin that you could imagine. When we hit 10 months, she suddenly started to be weary of who was holding her and who mommy left her with when she had to go do errands or work. Note, this is not the case when her sister is around. Madison gives her that little bit of comfort that reassures her everything will be okay.
They have become best friends. While Madison has several friends at school, no one makes her happier than her little sister. Morgan admires everything her big sister does. She watches her in detail. She takes in her movements, cries, laughs, and every other emotion. It was during month 11 that we saw Morgan apply what she watches Madison do to her own actions. For example, she will now pick up a brush and attempt to brush her hair, she will attempt to put a sock on her foot (instead of in her mouth), she cleans up, she knows where things go, she tries to use things the way that they were intended to be used.
She isn’t walking yet, but she sure is “mischievous”. We have coined her “Mischief Morgy”. She wants to get into everything. If you take your eye off of her for one second, she is halfway up the stairs, looking for the closest cord to pull out of the wall, or opening up a drawer to pull things out. She even likes to pull the garbage drawer open and pull trash out. She will crawl into the bathroom and stick her hands in the toilet, laughing in delight as the water splashes everywhere. We have to shut doors to rooms she shouldn’t be in. She will unwind an entire roll of toilet paper.
She has seven teeth. Four on the bottom, three on the top. She sure does love to use them to eat. She absolutely loves food. In fact, she would prefer solids over a bottle for most meals. There isn’t much she doesn’t like, but she does want to be the one to put it in her own mouth first. There is no sneaking something in from mom or dad. She will spit it out.
Her favorite foods, include (but are not limited to):
- Fusilli pasta, spaghetti, meat sauce
- Cheerios, peanut butter Puffins, Apple Jacks
- BAGELS – my, oh my, bagels. Any flavor, topping or not.
- Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, green beens
- Kidz Clif Bars
- Honey wheat pretzel sticks
- French Fries – I know, I know. Say what you want. These two love going to McDonald’s and Chicfila with Mimi and Popi.
Morgan loves to watch cartoons with her sister. They both love Sesame Street, Sheriff Callie, Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Doc McStuffins. Morgan recognizes people and will point at them when you ask her where they are. She claps her hands, she waves hi/bye, she laughs more than any child I know. She throws food, she makes a mess, she doesn’t love bath time.
She is quite visibly a bigger girl than Madison was at her age. To this day, Madison only weighs about 23 pounds. Morgan at 11 months is 21 pounds. It will be interesting to see where she is at when she goes to her one year appointment. They may be wearing the same size clothes sooner than we think.
She sure does add a new dynamic to our growing family. It is certainly hard for me to believe she will be one in less than a month. People always told me time flies with kids. I get it now. Some days seem to go by way too slow, but in the grand scheme of things, I wish they would slow down more. We are so proud of our Morgan Riley. Please enjoy some additional pictures from the last two months!
