Wow! Life has been busy the past few days. It is the end of the second quarter at work (so lots to do!), it’s a long holiday weekend, AND our sweet girl hasn’t been feeling 100%. Let me take a second to catch you up on my end of week workouts (pre-Fourth of July).
Wednesday morning I joined the FiA (Females in Action) ladies for a bootcamp workout that took place entirely on the roof of the Metropolitan parking deck. One of the best parts about this group is that I never feel unsafe. As a woman, it is easy to worry about your safety when you are working out by yourself in the dark. In the picture above, the “Q” (person who leads) is describing what our workout will be. Wednesday’s workout was a “stacking” workout. That means we started with one rep of one exercise (in this case a burpee), ran the length of the parking deck, completed the same exercise one time (in this case a burpee), followed by two reps of a different exercise (in this workout, something that started with a “2”, 20 mountain climbers). We kept adding exercises to the stack, while running in between, until we hit 10.
By the time that we were done, the sun was rising. What an awesome view. Classic plank hold until the last person finished. No woman left behind. See total reps of all exercises below. That is a productive morning!
- 10 burpees
- 180 mountain climbers
- 24 release pushups
- 280 single leg plyos
- 300 bicycle crunches
- 30 in and out push ups
- 280 reverse lunges
- 24 woman makers (a twist on a man maker)
- 100 ab exercises
On top of the exercises listed above, we also ran 1.35 miles. We accumulated the milage running to and from the parking deck and throughout the runs in between exercises. That is solid for a 45 minute bootcamp.
Thursday was a much needed day off for me. That means I didn’t do anything other than take a stroll around the block and stretch. I spent some quality time playing with my daughter in the afternoon. I have to take pictures of her every day, because I feel like she looks so different from one week to the next. Her hair is already long enough for full pig tails!
As the week progressed, we started to realize that she was developing a little cold. Doctor called for lots of snuggle time and fluids. No problem here. Tomorrow’s post will be a full update on my Fourth of July “double down”, our family cookout and fireworks compliments of the Charlotte Knights!
